Keyun Biocontrol’s partner in Bangladesh, Ispahani Agro Limited, has received the registration for Helico-NPV for the control of Helicoverpa spp. in various crops, such as cotton, tomato and tobacco. Helico-NPV is based on the Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus, a pathogenic virus that specifically infects and kills Helicoverpa spp. Helico-NPV is a highly concentrated water dispersible granule with a concentration of 60 billionPIB/g, which is eight times higher in concentration than other competitive products available in the market making it possible to reduce significantly the costs in transport and storage process.

Helico-NPV employs a novel mode of action that’s highly effective in controlling Helicoverpa spp. Due to its feature of zero residue, the product not only fits the model of organic farming but can also be incorporated into resistance management programs. Helico-NPV will definitely provide the Bangladeshi farmers with a safe and effective biocontrol product to control Helicoverpa larvae.
